Mission and Programs:
The Academy of Visual and Performing Arts (AVPA) at Culver City High School was established in 1996 to provide intensive, professional level arts education and training for high school students after the regular school day. The AVPA curriculum includes majors in Visual Art, Dance, Music, Theatre, and Film. The Academy is guided by four credentialed CCHS teachers and supplemented by the talents of many professional artists working in their respective fields. The mission of the AVPA Foundation is to enrich and enhance the arts education program provided by the AVPA. Established in 2005, the Foundation raises funds used entirely to support afterschool classes and workshops, student performances, exhibitions and screenings, instructional materials and field trips, improvements to facilities and equipment used by AVPA, and other activities and services integral to the AVPA program. Funding sources include grants and donations from parents, community members, businesses and foundations.
